About the chef

Hector Marroquin

Hector Marroquin

Our Chef and Founder is Hector Marroquin, who has 25 years’ experience in every aspect of foodservice. He is a graduate of Pacific Union College with a B.S. in Business and Design. He began his career and his inspiration at Miramonte restaurant in Saint Helena, Calif., with Chef Udo Nechutnys and apprenticed with Masataka “Masa” Kobiyashi at Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, Calif.

Chef Hector also worked in Maui. While there, Hector gained a greater appreciation of Pacific Rim cuisine and was greatly influenced by Executive Chef James McDonald (voted Best Chef in Maui) while working at I’o. Chef Hector also took the reigns as Executive Chef at the Flames of Avalon and Chart House in Lahaina, Maui.

He has hotel experience with Silverado Country Club, Fairmont Hotel, Grand Wailea and as Executive Chef at the Villagio Inn and Spa in Yountville, Calif. He has worked with catering companies including Wine Valley Catering in Napa with the great Peter McCafree and with Knickerbockers in St. Helena.

Chef Hector has good experience working with retreats and institutional settings, including Four Springs retreat in Middletown CA, The Watsu Center in Harbin, Middletown, Calif., and Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif.
